Where can I read the statements from the candidates running for office this year?
Candidate statements will be included with all ballots mailed to members and can also be read or downloaded from the UFT website. Statements were also included in the April and the May editions of the New York Teacher.

Must I vote for all candidates running as a slate or a caucus?
No, if you do not want to vote for a full slate of candidates, you may vote by individual candidate or a partial slate. See voting instructions for more details »

What is the deadline to send in my ballot?
Ballots must be received by the Global Election Services by 9 a.m. on May 28, 2025.

Can I drop off my ballot in person?
You may drop off a mailed ballot at one of the polling stations during the dates/hours and locations listed on the chart above. You may deposit your mailed ballot into a locked voting box once you have shown a photo ID. Members may only drop off their own ballot and cannot submit a ballot for another member.

What happens if I lose my secrecy sleeve?
If you lose your secrecy sleeve, you can still return your ballot. Your vote will be counted as long as the ballot is returned in the official business-reply envelope provided. The secrecy sleeve is not required for your vote to be valid.

The UFT uses a secrecy sleeve in this election for two main reasons. First, it eliminates the need for machines to cut open individual secrecy envelopes, which can slow down the process and risk damaging the ballots. Second, using a sleeve streamlines ballot handling, which allows for faster and more accurate vote counting.

For these reasons, secrecy sleeves are increasingly common in mail-in elections for their efficiency and reliability.

What should I do if I requested a duplicate ballot, but my original ballot arrives afterward?
If your original ballot arrives after you've requested a duplicate ballot, you may return either one.

  • If you return only the original ballot, that ballot will be counted.
  • If you return only the duplicate ballot, that ballot will be counted.
  • If you return both the original and the duplicate, only the duplicate ballot will be counted. The original ballot will be voided.

When will ballots be counted?
Ballots will be counted on May 29, 2025 at UFT headquarters.

Where will election results be announced?
Certified election results will be posted on UFT.org after the counting of ballots has been completed. The news will also be shared on on the UFT's social media channels and in the June 2025 edition of New York Teacher.
